NECA, Labour move against coronavirus challenges at workplace

The Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA), the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) have struck an agreement to address the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic at the workplace.

With an extant employer-labour relationship, the unions yesterday noted that the memorandum of understanding (MoU) became necessary “to work together in addressing the critical labour and socio-economic issues arising from the pandemic, especially from the perspective of the workplace.”

Acknowledging that the disease had done significant damages to businesses and changed the dynamics of the world of work where employers and employees are both directly affected by the scourge, they pointed out that the partnership was timely.

The Director-General of NECA, Dr. Timothy Olawale, said the coalition would continue to partner post-in the COVID-19 era to develop programmes with governments and other stakeholders to ensure business sustainability, competitiveness job creation and rapid national development.
