Niger APC cautions Oshiomhole against subverting people’s wish

Ekiti aspirant plans suit over alleged manipulation
Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger State, Mohammed Jibrin Imam, has warned the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, not to go ahead with the plan to subvert the wishes of the people over the results of the party’s senatorial primaries in the state.

Imam, who spoke with journalists in Minna, asserted that such move would be counter-productive as the 2019 elections approach.

However, after the primaries, Mohammed Sani Musa was declared winner of the Niger East Senatorial District with 39,192 votes.

Also, in Niger South, Mohammed Bima Enagi became winner with 24,415 votes while in Niger North, Haliru Zakeri Jikantoro won with 23,618 votes.

In another development, an aspirant for Ekiti North Senatorial District, Chief Kayode Otitoju, has threatened legal action against Oshiomole-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC over alleged manipulation of primary election in the district.

Otitoju said that should the party recognise Senator Olubunmi Adetumbi as the winner, he would be left without other option than to seek legal redress.

Adetumbi was said to have polled 21,763 votes in the primary and declared winner by Dr. Ibrahim Sule-led APC Senatorial Primary Committee in the state last Friday.

The former Ekiti Information Commissioner, said there was no election in the five local councils that constitute the district on that day, alleging that the figures were concocted in Adetumbi’s favour.
