Nigeria @64: Tinubu confers national honours on Akpabio, CJN, others

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has conferred the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun and Senate President Godswill Akpabio with the honour of the Grand Commander of the Order of Niger (GCON).
Tinubu announced this during his October 1st Independence Day speech on Tuesday.
The CJN was officially sworn in by the President on Monday, 30 September 2024 as the substantive 23rd CJN, succeeding Justice Kayode Ariwoola.
Meanwhile, Tinubu also conferred the Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) on the deputy Senate president, Barau Jibrin while the deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, was conferred with the Commander of the Order of Niger (CON) respectively.

The president promised the country that there would be better days ahead, as his administration continues to carry out his basic reforms.
He urged Nigerians to continue to believe amid a tough economic reality.
“I urge you to believe in our nation’s promise. The road ahead may be challenging, but we will forge a path toward a brighter future with your support,” Tinubu said.
“Together, we will cultivate a Nigeria that reflects the aspirations of all its citizens, a nation that resonates with pride, dignity, and shared success.”
