You can do it..Coach Sunday Oliseh seems to tell the Super Eagles.

A renowned sports analyst, Tayo Balogun, on Tuesday decried the culture of low-level preparation of the country’s athletes ahead of major international competitions.

Balogun, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that it was unfortunate that the situation had persisted in the nation’s sports sector.

According to him, Nigeria’s casual approach to preparing for competitions would not yield any meaningful result.

He, therefore, advised sports-loving Nigerians not to expect the country’s athletes to perform miracles at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.

“It’s so sad that this is a perennial problem; it’s so sad that we are caught in this particular dimension.

“At the moment when we have just months to the Olympics, we don’t have a situation where we can properly say we are preparing.

“So, whatever the situation is, since the body that is supposed to be in charge of preparation is not in place, I don’t know what we are going to do.

“There use to be a situation when we think we are moving forward under the Bolaji Abdullahi (era), but again he was sacked prematurely and then taken out of the picture.

“We have a situation at the moment where everybody is fighting everybody and I don’t know if we are going to be able to get anything from this.’’

42 sports, including two new additions, will be contested at the Olympics, scheduled to begin in 178 days’ time – from Aug. 5 to Aug. 21 in Brazil.

Golf and rugby are the two new additions to the Olympic Games.

The former is returning to the games after 112 years’ absence, the latter has not featured in the competition for 92 years.

10,500 athletes from 206 countries are expected to compete in 306 medal events – 136 women’s, 161 men’s, and 9 mixed – in the 17-day competition
