Personnel of the Nigerian Navy have rescued victims trapped in a collapsed building at Alakija in Lagos State, and immediately transported them to the Navy Reference Hospital, Ojo, where they received emergency medical treatment.
Following a distress call about the incident, the personnel swiftly mobilised to the scene and joined other emergency responders in the search and rescue operation.and trough their prompt response, professionalism, and dedication, several victims were rescued from the debris and evacuated for urgent medical attention.
In a statement on Monday, Navy Capt. Abiodun Folorunsho, said the Navy remains committed to ensuring that those affected receive the necessary medical support.
Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, commended the courage and professionalism displayed by the rescue team and the medical personnel of the Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital, Ojo.
He also appreciated the cooperation of other emergency response agencies and members of the public whose collective efforts contributed to the successful rescue operation.
Abbas extended heartfelt sympathy to the families of those affected by the unfortunate incident and wished the injured victims a speedy recovery.
In other news, Naval personnel under Operation Delta Sentinel have disrupted the movement of illegally refined petroleum products through the creek corridors of Rivers State, recovering 22,870 litres of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) contained in 81 sacks.
The products were recovered in Orashi Forest area of Okolomade Community in Abua/Odual Local Government Area, bordering Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
Folorunsho said the recovered products and the wooden boat used in conveying them had been handled in accordance with extant anti-crude oil theft procedures.
