Nigeria, Morocco optimistic on gas pipeline development
The Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mele Kyari, yesterday said the Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline (NMGP) project would open new opportunities for the realisation of the most populous black nation’s gas development plan.
President Muhammadu Buhari and King Hassan VI had signed a pact to facilitate the establishment of a gas pipeline to supply the product from Nigeria to Morocco and the West Africa sub-region and further into Europe.
Speaking during a stakeholders’ engagement involving the corporation, Morocco National Office for Hydrocarbons & Mines (ONHYM) and executives of international oil companies operating in Nigeria in Abuja, the NNPC boss described the project as strategic, adding that it would provide market for Nigerians.
