Nigeria wins bid to host 2026 world public relations forum

Mohammed Idris,

Nigeria has won the hosting right for the 2026 World Public Relations Forum (WPRF), becoming the second in the African continent to host the highest event of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management with membership across 126 countries.

The President, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr. Ike Neliaku, disclosed this while briefing the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Idris Mohammed in Abuja.

Director, Public Relations, NIPR, Stanley Ogadigo, in a statement on Friday quoted Neliaku as saying that the hosting right will place the country on a global map before, during and after the Forum, as well as present an opportunity to promote the country’s image in the comity of nations.

Responding, the Minister described it as a big win for the country, noting that this offers a great platform for Nigeria to showcase its rich cultural heritage, talents, innovative strides and developmental reform initiatives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the world.

“At a time Nigeria is trying to market itself, at a time reforms are happening and at a time that the President is ensuring that Nigeria returns to its rightful place in the comity of nations, the gains for hosting the WPRF cannot be over emphasised,” he stated.

In his congratulatory letter dated March 5, 2025, President, Global Alliance, Prof. Justin Green, expressed confidence that NIPR will organise an outstanding and impactful event that will foster knowledge-sharing, professional collaboration, and meaningful dialogue on the future of PR and communication worldwide.

“This is a remarkable achievement and a testament to NIPR’s commitment to excellence in public relations and communication on a global scale. Securing the privilege to host such a prestigious event underscores Nigeria’s growing influence in the global PR landscape and reflects the dedication, professionalism, and leadership of NIPR in advancing public relations practices across Africa and beyond,” Green said.

WPRF was first hosted on the continent of Africa in 2007 by South Africa.
