Clark died when Nigeria, Ijaw needed him most – IPUA

The Ijaw Progressive Union of Aborigines (IPUA) has on Thursday regretted that Chief Edwin Clark passed on at a time when the Ijaw nation relied on his wisdom for effective leadership in both the Niger Delta region and Nigeria.
According to IPUA, the recent death of Clark is a wake-up call to the government to uplift the region and urged the immediate family to find solace in God and in Clark’s commendable legacy.

In a statement signed by its Executive Coordinator Mr. Denise Amakor, the group expressed their heartfelt condolences to the Family, describing the Niger Delta leader as detribalised Nigerian” who passionately advocated for his people.
He, however, called upon state and national governments to address the long-standing neglect of Ijaw communities, advocating for improved infrastructure and safety measures, saying Clark’s death should serve as a wake-up call for governmental action to uplift the region.
