Dangogo dies at 76

Fomer Secretary General of African Public Relations Association (APRA), Mallam Kabir Dangogo, has passed on. He died on March 6, 2025 at the age of 76. Dongogo retired from Union Bank of Nigeria Plc  in 2005 as  an  Assistant General Manager and head of the Corporate Affairs Department. 

He had worked in several companies and agencies during his career as an editor, lecturer, public relations manager, author, publisher, advertising agent, and adviser on corporate and reputation management.
 
Dangogo was the pioneer president of the Association of Corporate Communications and Marketing Professionals in  Banks (ACAMB).  He is survived by his wife, three children and relations. His remains was  buried in Kaduna in accordance with Islamic rites.

Meanwhile, Past President , APRA, Yomi Badejo-Okusanya, in his tribute, wrote: “ I mourn today one my predecessors in office, Secretary General (SG) Mallam Kabir Dangogo.  As SG elected in Accra in 2003, he assisted tremendously in laying the foundation for APRA as it is known today. It was on this foundation we built…”

“Mallam was diligent and meticulous, always ensuring that procedure was followed. His insistence often projected him as unyielding and unbending, but that was who he was  and he had no apologies for it. 

His sickness towards the end of his life robbed us of further valuable additions he would have made, as it slowed him down considerably.  Undoubtedly, he will be remembered for his immense contributions to the profession…”.
