Adamawa State governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has called for unity, peace, and collective progress among the people of Michika as he presented the Staff of Office to Professor Bulus Luka Gadiga, as the Mbege Ka Michika.

Speaking at the coronation ceremony in Michika, Fintiri described the event as historic, not only for recognizing the rich cultural heritage of the Kamwe people but also for reaffirming the state’s commitment to traditional leadership as a vehicle for development.

“The creation of Michika Chiefdom is not only a positive response to the people’s request but a bold step to harness the tremendous human and natural potentials of the area,” he stated.

He urged the people of Michika to foster unity, emphasizing that their remarkable wealth, sound education, and diverse talents should be assets in promoting the development of the Chiefdom.

Fintiri highlighted the historical significance of the Kamwe people, noting their resilience and contributions to commerce and governance dating back to the 15th century.

He praised their industrious nature and achievements in various fields, including academia, civil service, the armed forces, and commerce.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to development, the governor outlined ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure, education, healthcare, and agriculture in Michika and across Adamawa State.

He emphasised the importance of peace and collaboration in achieving sustainable growth, pledging continued support for traditional institutions in governance.

Addressing political critics, Fintiri assured the people of his administration’s unwavering focus on delivering tangible results.

“We will not be deterred by the voices of critics whose primary pastime seems to be sowing seeds of disaffection under the guise of political maneuvers,” he said.
The governor also acknowledged the presence of other traditional rulers at the event, commending their contributions to preserving cultural values and strengthening communal bonds.

Fintiri congratulated Gadiga, urging him to lead with wisdom, justice, and dedication to the progress of Michika.

In his acceptance speech, the newly installed Mbege Ka Michika, Gadiga expressed gratitude to the governor for finding him worthy of the throne and for restoring the lost glory of Michika.
He pledged to work hand in hand with the state government to promote peace, unity, and economic development.

The Mbege Ka Michika assured his people of his unwavering commitment to fostering progress in education, agriculture, and economic growth within the community.

Lamido Adamawa, Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustafa, represented by Wali Adamawa, Abdulkadir Mbamba, reaffirmed the commitment of the Adamawa Emirate to collaborate with all newly created chiefdoms and emirates in the state.

He emphasised the need for fairness, peace, and unity in governance.
Mbamba also addressed recent social media controversies regarding a statement made by the governor in Madagali.

He clarified that the message was clear: all district heads affected by the creation of new emirates and chiefdoms should relinquish their previous titles.

The grand event also featured the official oath-taking by Professor Bulus Luka Gadiga as the Mbege Ka Michika, presided over by the Chief Judge of Adamawa State, Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman.

The coronation ceremony, attended by dignitaries, traditional rulers, and community leaders, marked a new chapter in Michika’s history, reinforcing the role of traditional leadership in fostering unity and development.
