Lagos corps member in viral video appointed youth ambassador
The Lagos State government has appointed Osawere Austin Dayo, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member who gained national attention for his passionate dance video, as a youth ambassador for the state.
Dayo, a graduate of Theatre Arts from the University of Ibadan, became a viral sensation after a video of him dancing with his students at King’s College Lagos, where he is currently serving as his primary place of assignment, went viral.
The social media account that shared the video had mocked the corps member for his passionate engagement with the students.
However, the video quickly gained traction, reaching the attention of the Lagos State government.
The state Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, announced his Dayo’s appointment on Sunday via X formerly known as Twitter.
Ogunlende expressed his admiration for Dayo’s talent, stating that he is “captivated by @osapline, the passionate corps member serving at Kings College, Lagos. I did not only find myself drawn by this online discourse but also with Mr. Governor.”
“In light of this impact. I am honoured to welcome @osapline as the Latest Youth Ambassador of Lagos State.”
Dayo expressed his gratitude for the appointment in a response tweet, stating, “Thank you very much for coming through for me sir. It was like a dream when I received a call that the Commissioner of Youth and Social Development is coming to see me at King’s College, but the reality hit me when I truly saw him.”
