Lagos, Platinum set to rebrand Queen of Ibile pageant

Lagos State government’s Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, in partnership with Plantinum Entertainment Nigeria Limited, is set to objectify the concept of Queen of Ibile pageant with the performance of I AM LAGOS on stage.

Lagos State government’s Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, in partnership with Plantinum Entertainment Nigeria Limited, is set to objectify the concept of Queen of Ibile pageant with the performance of I AM LAGOS on stage.

The event, which will hold at the Glover Memorial Hall, tomorrow, December 24, 2021, will have in attendance, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu; First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu; Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat, and wife of the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Mrs Oluremi Hamzat. Others include, Commissioner for Tourism Arts and Culture, Lagos State, Mrs. Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf; Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, Chief Folashade Tinubu-Ojo; Oba of Lagos (Eleko of Eko), Oba Rilwan Akiolu; Alara of Ilara Epe, Oba Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo, and Oba Elegushi, Oba Alayeluwa Saheed Ademola Elegushi.

According to the show’s executive producer and CEO of Platinum Entertainment Limited, Olayinka Fatima Edu, the event is not only educating, but also entertaining.

She added that the performance brings to forbear the history of Lagos as a man’s land, dramatically discussing the values of Lagos as a state apace with the T.H.E.M.E.S agenda of governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration.

The performance uses musical drama as a tool for the preservation of the state’s culture and building the spirit of Lagos in the heart of her audience, while educating on the ideals of civicengagement and responsibilities for a better state and national development.“This performance has an infusion of African total theatre style, which gives it a well-deserved uniqueness.

“Are you a Lagosian? How well do you know your Lagos? Living in Lagos goes beyond making ends meet but stamping (leaving) your foot in the sands of Lagos.I AM LAGOS the musical is imparted to explore, propagate, and engage Lagos, her values, and her potential.”

The musical, I Am LAGOS, is inspired by the Queen of Ibile concept, Olayinka Edu, Tobi Odunsi and Nweye Joy and is written by Boluwatife Orimolade. The executive producer is Olayinka Edu, while artistic director is Tobi Odunsi and musical director, Oretimehin Kehinde.
