As Nigeria prepares for the inauguration of its next president, Archbishop of the Enugu Ecclesiastical Province (Anglican Communion), Rt Rev. Emmanuel Chukwuma, has urged elected officials to learn to sacrifice in leadership.

Chukwuma stated that those elected should know it would not be business as usual, stressing that Nigerians are now eager to ensure the country moves forward.

Speaking in Enugu, yesterday, as part of the Easter celebrations, the cleric noted that for the country to move forward, “we need to make sacrifices; we need to make the country better than what it is.

“It is important that our leaders are ready to sacrifice. They must be ready to give themselves to the service of humanity, and provide, for the people, the right amenities, because God in Jesus Christ provided for us that which we needed to survive.

“It is also important that the incoming government should know that there should be no discrimination; there should be love and unity for Nigerians without religious bigotry or bias in all that we do.”

Chukwuma urged Nigerians to intensity prayers against all forms of thuggrey, banditry and assassination in the country.

He added: “We are also saying that Federal Government should stop referring to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as terrorists. If you cannot call bandits and kidnappers terrorists, it is wrong to be call IPOB members terrorists.”
