The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 29-year-old man, Isiaka Hassan, in connection with the gruesome murder of a five-year-old boy, Abba Bashiru, in Tingno, Lamurde Local Government Council of the state.
According to a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, on Sunday, the incident came to light after the victim’s mother, Hadiza Bashiru, reported her son missing. She informed authorities that her child was last seen with the suspect.
Acting swiftly on the report, police operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer in Tingno apprehended Hassan.
During interrogation, the suspect, according to the command, confessed to conspiring with an accomplice who remains at large to kill the child and bury him in a shallow grave.
The victim’s body, as announced by the police, was later exhumed and taken to a hospital for autopsy.
Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to take over the case and intensify efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
The Command has reiterated its commitment to ensuring justice is served and urged the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement in the fight against violent crime in the state.
