Abiodun’s wife welcomes first baby in Ogun, presents cash, packs

The Wife of Ogun State Governor, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, welcomed the First Baby of the Year in the state, baby girl Olude, born at 12.01am, at the Oba Ademola Maternity Hospital, Ijemo, Abeoukuta, weighing 3.5kg.

• Rotary Donates Incubator To Island Maternity  Hospital

The Wife of Ogun State Governor, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, welcomed the First Baby of the Year in the state, baby girl Olude, born at 12.01am, at the Oba Ademola Maternity Hospital, Ijemo, Abeoukuta, weighing 3.5kg.

In a statement signed by the Press Officer, Office of the First Lady, Kemi Oyeleye, Mrs Abiodun, while presenting a cash gift and baby pack to the baby, congratulated the parents who had waited for eight years after marriage before having the baby.

She also welcomed baby Adenowo, a boy at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, born at 12.07am weighing 3.95kg with cash gift and baby items.

Mrs. Abiodun, who extended her kind gesture to other babies and mothers in the various wards of the hospitals.

Also, as part of efforts aimed at putting smiles on faces of Nigerian families, members of  Rotary Club of Lagos Central honoured First Baby of the Year at Lagos Island Maternity Hospital with gift items. The members also donated an incubator to the hospital.

The baby, Rabiu Rashidat, was delivered of at 12 27a.m., weighing 4.6kg.

In his  speech, the President Rotary Club of Lagos Central, John Akingbade, noted, “the tireless efforts and unwavering commitment of the members of staff, which have lifted the hospital and made significant impact on the lives of the babies. The members of staff  also exemplified service above self. Rotary Club is proud of the remarkable contributions.”

The Medical Director/ Chief Executive Officer Lagos Island Maternity Hospital, Dr. Oufemi Omololu, noted Rotary is known for traditions and legacies.

He added that the hospital employees worked diligently in 2024, with over 3,000 babies delivered at the hospital.

With over 40 years of the philanthropic gesture to the hospital, Omololu thanked the Rotary members for adding incubator in 2025. He assured of proper use of the equipment.

Presenting the incubator,  District Governor of Rotary International District 9112, Olufemi Adenekan stated , “for us, helping the less -privileged is our core value. The gesture is also in line with two focus areas of Rotary which are disease prevention and treatment; maternal child and health.”‘

Excellent commitment award was also presented to diligent members of staff of the hospital. They were presented with plaques and cash prizes.

Olaleye Modinat Aderonke emerged winner in the senior category, while Okusanya Babalola Anuoluwapo emerged winner in the junior category.
