The National President of Anambra Prays International and the Redeemed Israel Community of Nazarene Association (RICONA), Bishop Ignatius Nnabuike Orizu, has expressed deep sorrow over the collapse of a private hostel in Amaokpala, near the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, in Orumba North Local Council of Anambra State, describing the incident as a tragic loss that has thrown many families into mourning.
  
In a statement issued from the Bishop’s Court in Akwu-Anozie, Uruagu, Nnewi, Orizu said the disaster, which claimed lives and left several others injured, underscored the urgent need for stricter compliance with building regulations across the country.
  
He extended his condolences to the families of the victims on behalf of the Anambra Prays International and RICONA, praying that God would grant them strength and comfort in their moment of grief.
  
The cleric also prayed for the speedy recovery of those receiving treatment, expressing hope that ongoing rescue operations would account for anyone still missing.
  
Orizu commended emergency responders, security agencies, medical personnel, volunteers and members of the host community for their efforts in rescuing victims and providing assistance to those affected by the collapse.
  
He described their dedication and selfless service as worthy of commendation, noting that their swift response helped reduce the impact of the tragedy.
  
The bishop called on government agencies, developers, engineers and property owners to ensure strict adherence to approved building standards, regular structural inspections and the use of quality construction materials.
  
According to him, effective regulatory oversight and compliance with safety standards are critical to preventing similar incidents in the future.
  
He urged all stakeholders in the construction industry to place public safety above every other consideration, stressing that avoidable building failures continue to inflict needless pain on families and communities.

Orizu further appealed to Nigerians to stand in solidarity with the affected families through prayers, compassion and support during the difficult period.
  
Citing Psalm 34:18, he said: “Yahweh is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
  
He prayed for eternal rest for those who lost their lives, healing for the injured and divine strength for rescue workers involved in the emergency response.
