Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade, operating under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, have arrested two suspected kidnappers in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The operation, carried out on September 19, came just a day after the brigade apprehended a notorious terrorist suspect in Takum Local Government Area. The arrest is part of intensified military efforts under Operation Lafiya Nakowa.
Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations for 6 Brigade, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, said the suspects were captured during a swift, coordinated raid following credible intelligence on criminal activities in the Garau axis of Rafin Taba community.
The suspects, identified as Ibrahim Umaru and Adamu Malam Musa, are allegedly connected to several high-profile kidnappings across Taraba and neighboring states.
Preliminary investigations revealed their involvement in multiple abductions, ransom collection, and the transportation of victims to the notorious Madam Forest in Plateau State to evade security forces.
Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their professionalism and resilience, stating that the operation highlights the army’s resolve to dismantle criminal networks threatening peace and security in the region.
“The Brigade remains committed to working with other security agencies to ensure peace is fully restored. We will not relent until these criminal elements are completely neutralized,” he said.
The army urged the public to provide timely and actionable intelligence to support ongoing security operations and warned criminal groups to abandon their activities or face decisive military action.
