Bomb explosion kills one, four others injured in Niger
A bomb explosion has claimed one life, while four other persons were confirmed injured in Bassa village of Shiroro Local Council in Niger State.
A source from the area stated that the incident happened when the victims were on their way to the farm on Thursday, December 19, 2024, in the morning.
Ahmed Almustapha, a resident of the community, who confirmed the explosion to journalists, revealed that three of the victims lost their legs and were being treated at IBB Specialist Hospital, Minna.
Almustapha further stressed that three of the victims, who were siblings, were his sister’s children, adding that this was the second explosion this month in the community.
He explained that the first explosion, which occurred two weeks ago, claimed one life when the victim was also on their way to the farm.
Ahmed called on the Niger State and federal governments to assist the people of the area, who are predominantly farmers, to enable them to return to their farms.
As of the time of filing this report, the spokesperson of the Niger State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, could not be reached for comment.
