MODALITIES for the operation of a Christian Pilgrims’ Lottery Scheme that will reduce government’s burden in funding pilgrimages to Israel, is being worked out by the joint efforts of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC) and the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC). It is expected to be fully operational by August 2015.

The scheme will equally afford poor Nigerians who are winners of the lottery promo to have the singular opportunity to fund their pilgrimages.

This position was made known in Abuja when the Executive—Secretary, Mr. John Kennedy Opara led his team on a courtesy visit to the management of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) led by Mr. Adolphus Joe Ekpe in Abuja.

The Executive -Secretary, NCPC, Mr. Kennedy Opara said the aim of the scheme was to support more Nigerians to have the opportunity to fund their pilgrimages to Israel through lottery.

“Opara explained that his commission is presently conducting interviews for several interested operators of the scheme in a bid to choose the best and send the names to the NLRC for certification and approval for the take-off latest by August, 2015. ‘’
