Dedicated to serving individuals with disabilities and other marginalised groups, Christ’s Outreach on Disabilities (CODISA), a not-for-profit organisation has announced a significant fundraising campaign with a target of ₦500 million.
The foundation, which currently supports over 42 care facilities and institutions, aims to substantially expand its reach and the impact of its vital programmes with the raised funds.
Speaking during the launch and fundraising held recently, CODISA’s Board Chairman, Mr. Tokunbo Martins, highlighted the organisation’s 41 years of impactful service since its inception, noting that the foundation empowered persons with disabilities through skills development, advocacy and policy initiatives to enable persons with disabilities to lead fulfilling lives.
“CODISA has been a beacon of help and hope, touching countless lives and fostering progress for people with disabilities. Our legacy is built on unwavering dedication and remarkable achievements, and we stand tall knowing that our work has made a timely difference,” he stated.
Martins emphasised the pivotal nature of the fundraising initiative. “Tonight’s gathering marks a crucial moment in CODISA’s journey.
We have set an ambitious goal to raise ₦500 million to expand the reach and impact of our programs. These funds will enable us to support more institutions, serve more people with disabilities, and create lasting change. This target is bold, but with your support, we will reach it.”
He however calls on individuals, corporations, and the wider community to support the vital cause. “I urged you all to contribute generously; every naira given is an investment in transforming lives and communities. Together, we can achieve this goal.”
Leader CODISA Foundation, Prince Olaoluwa Awojoodu, passionately spoke on the organisation’s mission, saying that CODISA has been a beacon of hope and empowerment for people with disabilities for years. “We firmly believe that there is ability in disability.”
He drew attention to the global statistics, noting that approximately 15 percent of the world’s population lives with some form of disability, often facing significant barriers to education, employment, and social inclusion. In Nigeria, this translates to an estimated 24 million people, many of whom lack basic resources to thrive. The good news is that CODISA is changing this narrative through sustainable programmes, skill development, and community outreach. Together, we can transform lives. Let us give generously, not just financial resources, but also our belief in a better and all-inclusive society.”
