Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, Stanel Group and The Delborough, Lagos, Dr. Stanley Uzochukwu, has once again, taken humanitarian impacts further in Nigeria by donating his personal residence for the orphanage in Jos, Plateau State.
He has also constructed a state-of-the-art WAEC and NECO approved school for orphans and less privileged students in the state.
Uzochukwu, who has been a role mode to youths in Nigeria and the rest Africa, announced the donation, at an event held during the week, to empower widows, disabled and les- privileged citizens with over 3,000 modern sewing machines, grinding machines, wheel chairs and food items worth over N1 billion, through his foundation, Stanley Uzochukwu Foundation, to mark his birthday.
The Foundation has been committed to improving the living standard of orphans, widows, disabled and other less-privileged Nigerians across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, through education, mentorship and empowerment.
The commitment began with the official commissioning of the rebuilding of JOFIN orphanage home, comprising a well-equipped and computerized WAEC and NECO approved school in addition to donating his residence for orphans in Jos last Wednesday.
Uzochukwu did not only build the home and the school for the orphans and the less-privileged, he also equipped the school with modern science equipment, computer lab, he pays salaries of all staff and caregivers, he provides feeding and other basic needs as well as awarded them full scholarship at all levels of education.
Recall that in September 2024, when Uzochukwu’s attention was drawn to the starving orphans and the dilapidated state of the JOFIN Orphanage Home in Jos, he immediately directed the Chief Executive Officer of his foundation and her team to reach out to the management of the Home.
Consequently, the team relocated to Jos, where it provided one-week free food for the orphans. Beyond food, the orphans were medically taken care while their educational needs, including uniform, sandals, books, toiletries and other necessities have been provided till date.
The Foundation subsequently pledged commitment to transform the Home by rebuilding the structure, equipping the school, drilling a solar-powered borehole and providing food items and other basic needs of the children.
On completion of the projects in less than a year, Uzochukwu returned to Jos to commission the transformed orphanage in commemoration of his birthday amidst the orphans, less-privileged and widows alike.
Some of the highlights of the event was the presentation of 3,500 sewing machines, grinding machines, wheel chairs and food items to widows, disabled and the less-privileged by the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, who was supported by former President of Sierra Leone, Ernest Bai Koroma.
Addressing the excited audience, Uzochukwu said he was only fulfilling the covenant made with God.
He however urged the beneficiaries to maximize the opportunity. “Don’t sell the equipment. My wife is coming to train you on tailoring and set up a fashion design business for each of you”, he promised.
He also commended Gov Mutfwang and Koroma for giving the widows and the disabled persons the privilege to see a sitting governor and a former President in their midst.
Lauding Uzochukwu’s humanitarian impacts on the people of the state, Gov Mutfwang said: “I rejoice with the beneficiaries of SUF Initiatives and gestures. This gives honour to God Almighty. The prayers of the women and the less-privileged will keep you progressing in life. I enjoin other well-to-do and influential Nigerians to emulate Dr. Uzochukwu.
Also speaking, former President Koroma commended the philanthropic gesture of Uzochukwu while congratulating him on his birthday.
Koroma also urged other influential Nigerians to emulate the gesture and provide relief for the less-privileged in the society. Meanwhile, the beneficiaries were charged to utilize the gifts with determination to make meaning out of them so that they will in turn, assist others in the society.
In October 2024, Stanley Uzochukwu Foundation provided N40 million empowerment grants to 80 Small and Medium Enterprises. It has also, over the years, provided training and mentorship for the youths, and has empowered over 5,000 youths through its annual empowerment program tagged, ‘Master Class With Stanel’ initiative.
