The Department of State Services (DSS) has warned Nigerians against engaging with a dismissed officer allegedly impersonating the agency to defraud unsuspecting citizens.
In a statement posted on its official X handle on Sunday, the secret police identified the suspect as Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, a former staff member reportedly involved in “unscrupulous activities.”
“The Department of State Services (DSS) hereby alerts members of the public to the activities of one Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, a dismissed staff. He is reportedly engaging in unscrupulous activities, including using the name of the Service to defraud unsuspecting members of the public,” the statement read.
The Service advised Nigerians to avoid any dealings with the suspect and to direct all enquiries and complaints through its verified communication platforms.
The latest warning comes just four days after the DSS issued a similar alert about Barry Donald, another dismissed officer accused of impersonating the agency for fraudulent purposes.
