There has been a change of leadership in Lions Clubs International, District 404B2 Nigeria, as Kemi Eribake assumed office as the new District Governor for the 2025–2026 Lions Service Year.
Speaking at the event in Lagos, Eribake described the occasion as not just a personal milestone but a call to a greater purpose. She said she embraced the responsibility with faith, strength, and an unshakable belief in the power of service to transform lives.
She expressed gratitude to the immediate past District Governor, Lion Tolulope Senbanjo, for his visionary leadership and dedication, noting that the 2024–2025 service year under his stewardship recorded remarkable achievements in branding, publicity, and membership growth.
Eribake stated that the standard of leadership in the district had been raised and affirmed her determination to build on the legacy with diligence. She also commended past district governors and other Lion leaders for laying the solid foundation upon which the district continues to thrive.
According to her, their guidance and service will continue to illuminate the path for the district’s progress. She unveiled the theme for the service year – “SIMILE”, an acronym representing the core pillars that will define the club’s journey in the year ahead: Service, Interest of Members, Membership, Integrity, Leadership, and Enlightenment.
She emphasised that these focus areas will guide her administration’s agenda. Eribake stressed that service remains at the heart of the district’s mission, with a renewed commitment to delivering impactful, needs-based community projects.
“We will expand our reach through new club formations and robust retention strategies, aligning with the global mission. We will lead with honesty, transparency, and ethics, ensuring that every decision reflects the highest standard of service,” she said.
She also announced the slogan for the year: “Real Service; Committed to Serve,” stating that it is not merely a catchphrase but a declaration of intent to serve with heart, head, and hands.
On her plans for the year, Eribake disclosed that the flagship project will be the establishment of a Youth Development Centre—an initiative aimed at nurturing leadership, innovation, and capacity among young people.
She also stated that the District Food Bank initiative will not only continue but be expanded to enhance hunger relief efforts across communities, adding that these two focus areas will receive the greatest energy and investment during her tenure.
