Families of three police officers who lost their lives in the course of duty have been given the sum of N11.2 million by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, in Lokoja on Tuesday.

The cheque for the sum represents the Group Life Assurance and IGP Family Welfare Schemes.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye, said, “Kogi State Police Command disbursed cheques under the Group Life Assurance and IGP Family Welfare Schemes to the families of three fallen police officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation. The total amount disbursed was ₦11,245,379.35.

“The cheques were presented to the bereaved families as part of the ongoing commitment of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, and the Police Force Welfare Scheme to provide financial support and relief to the families of officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

“This initiative is aimed at ensuring that the families of fallen heroes are not left behind and to help them cope with the financial burdens that often arise in the wake of such unfortunate events.”

The presentation ceremony was attended by senior police officers from the Kogi State Police Command, and the families expressed their gratitude for the gesture, which provided not only financial support but also a sense of security during a difficult time.

The Kogi State Police Command reiterates its commitment to the welfare of officers and their families.

Through the Group Life Assurance Scheme and the IGP Family Welfare Scheme, the Command aims to continue offering assistance to the families of officers who fall in the line of duty, ensuring that their sacrifices are recognized and that their families are provided with the necessary resources to maintain their well-being.
