In a historic ceremony marking the coronation and presentation of the Staff of Office to the first Kumu Gombi, His Royal Majesty Aggrey B. Ali, Adamawa state Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has urged the new traditional ruler to make peace and security a top priority for the development of the newly created Gombi Chiefdom.

Speaking at the event held in Gombi on February 8, 2025, Governor Fintiri emphasized the strategic importance of Gombi Local Government Area, noting that criminal elements often exploit its location as a transit route.

He expressed optimism that the establishment of the chiefdom would enhance security measures and provide a fresh impetus in combating banditry and other crimes in the region.

“I call on the Kumu Gombi to pay greater attention to issues of peace and security. These are the foundations of any meaningful development,” Fintiri said. “I hope that you will more efficiently use the District Heads and Village Heads in providing intelligence and curbing activities of bandits and criminals.”

The Governor also reaffirmed the state government’s ban on illegal mining and deforestation for charcoal production, calling on traditional rulers and security agencies to ensure strict enforcement.

Beyond security, Governor Fintiri highlighted the economic potential of the chiefdom, citing its vast opportunities in solid minerals extraction, agriculture, industrial growth, and tourism.

He commended the unity and determination of the ethnic groups in Gombi, including the Ga’anda, Lala, Bura, Hona, Ngwaba, and Fulani, for coming together to establish the chiefdom, calling it a testament to the Adamawa spirit of unity and progress.

In his congratulatory message to Kumu Gombi, Governor Fintiri lauded His Royal Majesty Aggrey B. Ali’s vast experience as an administrator and a former Permanent Secretary, expressing confidence in his ability to steer the chiefdom toward progress and prosperity.

The Governor also assured the people of Gombi that his administration remains committed to improving their welfare through continued investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and youth empowerment.

The event was attended by traditional rulers, government officials, community leaders, and a jubilant crowd of Gombi residents who celebrated the landmark occasion with cultural displays and festivities.

With the official presentation of the Staff of Office, Gombi Chiefdom embarks on a new journey, with its first traditional ruler expected to lead with vision and commitment toward a future of peace, unity, and development.
