Chemical and Allied Products (CAP) Plc, a subsidiary of UAC of Nigeria Plc and maker of Dulux, Sandtex and Caplux paints, has partnered with the Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) to deliver urgent relief to families affected by recent flooding in Mokwa, Niger State. This humanitarian intervention reflects the firm’s growing commitment to creating shared value and responding to community needs through long-term, impact-driven initiatives.
The Mokwa flood, which occurred in May, was triggered by torrential downpour displacing over 1,500 individuals and affecting over 500 homes in the community.
To provide relief in response, CAP Plc extended support to the most vulnerable families, providing relief items aimed at easing their immediate burden and helping them begin the process of recovery.
The donation was formally presented at the Nigerian Red Cross Society headquarters by Adefolahan Ojo, CAP Plc’s Regional Sales Manager, North Central. She was received by Director of Disaster Management at the NRCS, Benson Agbro, along with other officials.
The moment marked a show of solidarity to a community striving to rebuild after loss. Adefolahan, while speaking on the firm’s ongoing commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), emphasised the importance of swift and compassionate action, saying: “At CAP Plc, we remain deeply committed to making a meaningful impact through our CSR efforts. We believe in showing up for communities in times of need, and we hope this gesture brings relief and a sense of solidarity to the families in Mokwa.”
The NRCS praised the firm’s prompt intervention, highlighting how public-private partnerships like this one can play a crucial role in disaster response and preparedness.
“This collaboration reflects what is possible when compassion meets action.” “It reinforces the collective responsibility we all share in creating safer environments, especially in the face of growing climate-related challenges,” it stated.
In the wake of these devastating floods and the environmental cost of climate change, CAP Plc remains focused on supporting communities through resilience-building efforts, ensuring that its impact goes beyond products to touch lives in real and lasting ways.
