FMC Board’s chair rallies youths for national development under Tinubu
The Chairman of the Board of Management at the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, Dr Dayo Israel, has called on Nigerian youths to stay focused and hopeful, stressing that they have a pivotal role to play in the nation’s rebuilding efforts.
Speaking on Wednesday during the inauguration of the APC Youth League’s state chapter executives in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, Israel, who also serves as the National Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), urged young Nigerians to seize every opportunity, whether in government or the private sector, to collaborate with President Bola Tinubu’s administration in building a stronger nation.
He expressed gratitude for the opportunities young people are now receiving, citing the roles of his colleagues such as Lanre Sodipo, chairman of Abeokuta North, and himself as examples of youth taking on significant responsibilities.
“The country needs to enter a new phase because there is a lot of work to be done,” he said. “We are grateful to our President, Bola Tinubu, and all our governors for
encouraging and providing more opportunities for young people to participate in governance.
“Rebuilding Nigeria requires significant effort, and the youths are now privileged to take on many of these responsibilities. When you consider that young people are being given responsibilities, we have a duty to perform our roles diligently and help turn the country around for the benefit of its citizens.
“Whether as government officials or young professionals, we must contribute to building the Nigeria of our dreams.”
He also stressed the need for perseverance and self-drive, encouraging the youth not to use financial challenges or lack of government support as an excuse, but to make the most of available resources and trust that their efforts will be rewarded.
He added, “Our youth must also learn perseverance. You have to be self-driven. Many times, we lack the resources needed to achieve our goals, but what keeps us going is our passion and commitment to making Nigeria great.
“Do not use lack of money or government support as an excuse. Do what you can with what you have, and trust that God will propel you forward.”
On his part, Olamide Lawal, National President of the APC Youth League, who also spoke at the event, urged young Nigerians to serve as positive role models and avoid negative influences, particularly in the digital age.
He further stressed the importance of skill development, noting that the government cannot create jobs for everyone.
Lawal, who also serves as Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Youth Development, called for increased investment in youth empowerment initiatives, which he believes are essential in preparing the younger generation for a brighter future.
