
The Rivers State Police Command has successfully rescued four victims kidnapped from a God is Good Motor (GIGM) bus travelling from Abuja to Port Harcourt and has intensified efforts to apprehend the perpetrators.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, in a telephone interview with the Guardian on Sunday, confirmed that the police in the state were aware of the incident.
She said the police responded swiftly to the incident, deploying tactical teams to ensure the release of the victims.
“We are aware of the incident, and our Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Bala Mustapha, immediately deployed his tactical teams to ensure the release of the victims,” Iringe-Koko said.
She said as of the latest update, four of the kidnapped victims have been freed, with efforts ongoing to secure the release of any remaining captives.

The police have assured the public that they are working tirelessly to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
She added that the tactical teams are working around the clock to track down the kidnappers and ensure the safe release of the remaining victims.
“As I speak to you, four of the victims have been released. And the CP has launched a manhunt to arrest the perpetrators of this crime and for the remaining victims to regain their freedom and reunite with their families.”
