
Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has launched the distribution of essential drugs, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and emergency response materials to hospitals across the state. The event, held on Thursday at the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) in Damba, is part of the state government’s ongoing initiatives to strengthen healthcare delivery.
In a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, it was revealed that over ₦1 billion worth of vital drugs and medical resources have been distributed, aiming to address critical gaps in the health sector.
Speaking at the event, Governor Lawal emphasised the importance of the initiative, stating that it was a proactive measure to enhance patient care by ensuring hospitals are well-stocked. He remarked, “This distribution of over ₦1 billion worth of vital drugs and resources is not just symbolic but a clear demonstration of our commitment to the state of emergency we declared in the health sector. We are determined to tackle health challenges head-on.”

Governor Lawal also highlighted the impact the distribution will have, saying, “These materials will significantly improve our ability to respond to health emergencies, prevent disease outbreaks, and provide timely care. Thanks to our proactive efforts, Zamfara State has been polio-free since September 2023.”
He called on stakeholders, including government agencies, healthcare providers, and community leaders, to collaborate in ensuring the continued success of the health initiatives. “We can only achieve our health-related goals through collective effort and shared responsibility,” he added.
The Governor encouraged residents of Zamfara to make full use of the provided resources, urging the cultivation of a health-conscious culture to prevent diseases and improve overall quality of life.
Governor Lawal also expressed his gratitude to international partners for their generous support, noting, “Your commitment to promoting health and the well-being of the people of Zamfara State is sincerely appreciated.”
