Ajani was killed at his residence around 3 p.m. on Dele Gege Street, Awolowo Road, in the Tanke area of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

Reports indicate that Ajani had just returned from Offa when he was attacked. He was with his wife and children at the time of the incident.

Eyewitnesses and family members stated that Ajani was brutally murdered by four young men who gained access to his compound as he drove in with his family.

CCTV footage revealed two of the assailants standing casually outside the gate—one sipping from a water bottle—while the other two entered the premises.

Ajani, noticing their presence, reportedly went to meet them at the main door of his home.

The CCTV showed that the assailants came armed with axes and other dangerous weapons. After committing the act, the assailants fled the scene.

An eyewitness, who requested anonymity, explained, “What appeared to be a conversation suddenly turned deadly.”

The police have since evacuated Ajani’s body, but no official statement has been released.

Ajani, a respected civil engineer, retired from the Federal Ministry of Works four years ago but resumed a contract role at the ministry last year.

He was well-regarded by neighbors and known for his humility and contributions to the community.
