The House of Representatives member representing Lagos Mainland Federal Constituency, Moshood Oshun, has distributed N50,000 each to 1,000 members of his constituency as part of efforts to cushion the effects of the harsh economy.

The beneficiaries were picked across different strata of the communities, including students, youths, women, men, community leaders, artisans, and traders.

Speaking at the event, the lawmaker noted that the gesture was just a way to ameliorate the people’s suffering and promised to provide more support to members of his constituency in the days ahead.

He said, “Things are difficult in the country, so we are just trying to assist the people. So, this support is not for betting or entertainment.”

Oshun implored the beneficiaries to make good use of the money, saying it should not be spent on entertainment.

According to him, food is expensive, and times are tough for the residents, but they will get better as President Bola Tinubu does his best to get things back on track.

He also begged the beneficiaries and other members of the Lagos Mainland Constituency not to join the planned nationwide protest, though it is part of the people’s fundamental right to protest.

He added that Lagos Mainland residents do not want a protest, whether peaceful or not.

One of the beneficiaries, Adeleke Adesola, applauded the lawmaker for empowering her and many others with the cash support, saying it would go a long way to augment her business capital as a designer.

Also, a community leader, Jide Jimoh, applauded the lawmaker for empowering members of his constituency, saying the action is highly commendable.
