Insecurity: Afikpo Council chairman harps on military, local community collaboration

The Chairman of Afikpo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State Engr. Timothy Nwachi has called for immediate collaboration between the military and local communities to combat insecurity through intelligence gathering.

Egnr Nwachi made the appeal when he received members of Senior Course 47 of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College Jaji over the weekend.
Nwachi highlighted the need for a united front against insecurity in the country, praising the Nigerian Military for their sacrifices in combating terrorism and other insecurity threats.

Nwachi advocated for more enhanced tactical operations through robust intelligence gathering methodologies, adding that the role of local communities in supporting military efforts is paramount in the fight against insecurity.

The Chairman appealed to the Military High Command to consider Afikpo youths who are interested in joining the military.

In his response, leader of Senior Course 47, Commodore Abdulhakeem Olushina Ojebode, explained that the team’s visit was aimed at working toward harnessing Grassroots Intelligence to fight insecurity in the country.

The event featured a colourful reception and sightseeing at notable locations, including Ndibe Beach, Unwana Beach, and the Palace of Ezeogo Dr. Akanu Ibiam.

The event was concluded with the presentation of gifts to Afikpo LGA Chairman and conferment of Chieftaincy title of Ochi-Agha to Commodore Ojebode, symbolising the strong bond between the military and the local community.
