Kaduna hospital refutes claim of organ harvesting

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani

The authorities of Kaduna State Hospital and Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital have debunked allegations of organ harvesting in its healthcare facilities.

A patient claimed that her vital organ was tampered with during surgery.

Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the State Teaching Hospital, Professor Abdulkadri Musa Tabari refuted the claim in a statement on Thursday.

He said that “the Management has carefully reviewed the video and has find it curious how the facts and circumstances were distorted and suppressed in order to portray the Hospital in a bad light as a villain, curry favor and sympathy of the General public and the whole world in general.”

Tabari explained that It is a fact that Audu had surgery in the Hospital where a specimen was taken for Histology to have a definitive diagnosis, however, saying that “the patient privately arranged for the sample to be taken to another Hospital which sample was lost and the Doctor referred her to the Jos University Teaching Hospital for Exploratory Laparoscopy.”

The CMD said: “though not surprised with the urge to attract traffic and trend by people on Social Media, the Hospital Management finds it so unprofessional, unethical and defamatory by the publisher of the video on the social media- Facebook one Dan gwari for his actions which offends the principle of natural justice and fair hearing by not making effort to find out and hear the Hospital’s side of the issue in order to have a balanced view of the whole scenario.”

According to him, “the Hospital Management was not in the picture until when the International Federation of Women Lawyers of Nigeria (FIDA), Kaduna Branch wrote requesting the Hospital to investigate the matter”, stressing that “the Nigerian Police Force, Kaduna Command was involved in the matter where they too requested the Hospital to avail them the Staff concerned for their investigation which the Management complied with.”

He, however, warned that the Publisher Dan gwari un-publish the video and “retract all he has written on and about the hospital within 48 hours and tender an unreserved apology as failure to do so, the Management will explore the available legal action.”
