The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) says it has scaled up community sensitisation activities to create awareness on the ills of corruption.

The Chairman of the commission, Muhuyi Magaji-Rimingado, said this at a town hall meeting organised by the commission on Tuesday in Kano.

He underscored the importance of public sensitisation in combating corruption, adding that the exercise was designed to educate the citizens about the dangers of corruption.

Magaji-Rimingado said the commission in collaboration with stakeholders would extend its enlightenment activities at the grassroots, to effectively end corruption in the state.

“I have encountered numerous methods of corruption, but we remain resolute in combating them,” he said.

He said the commission had busted a land racketeering syndicate, who specialised in using fake land allocation certificates to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.

The chairman reiterated commitment to the campaign against corruption, warning that perpetrators would be prosecuted.

“We are determined to arrest and prosecute anyone involved in land racketeering, regardless of their rank or affiliation”.

Justice Dije Aboki, the Chief Judge of the state, lauded the anti corruption campaign and pledged continued support to the commission.

Dije was represented by Mustapha Hassan-Muhammad.

Also, Abba El-Mustapha, Executive Secretary, Kano State Film Censorship Board, said the Kannywood film industry would continue to educate the public about the dangers of corruption.

The event featured distribution of school bags to 150 pupils and presentation of integrity awards to individuals in recognition for their commitment to the fight against corruption in the state

They include Justice Dije Aboki; Abba El-Mustapha, ACP Sulaiman Aliyu-Gusau, CSP Sunday Ekwe, CSP Nasir Gusau, Salisu T. Balarabe, and Rabi Ibrahim-Waya, as well as Auwal Dankode, an aviation staff who returned $10,000 U.S. dollars, found in an aircraft.
