More revelations have emerged in the investigation of the controversial drug-related case involving Kano State Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Ibrahim Ali Namadi.
In the fresh development, three additional individuals, among them political appointees to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, were questioned in connection with the matter.
Presenting the report of its findings, the Chairman of the investigative committee set up by the government, Barr. Aminu Hussaini, disclosed that after due diligence, the committee invited Hon. Musa Ado Tsamia, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Yusuf on Drainage, and Abubakar Umar Sharada, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Political Mobilisation, to clarify their roles.
Additionally, the Committee Chairman noted that another well-known figure, Buhari Salisu, was also invited for questioning following extensive engagements with the Department of State Services (DSS), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
Although the committee remained silent on its recommendations—especially regarding the culpability of the commissioner—the Chairman stated that the report would guide the government in taking necessary action.
Receiving the report on behalf of the Governor, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alh. Umar Faruq Ibrahim, pledged the government’s readiness to act decisively on the committee’s recommendations.
“We have confidence in the integrity of the committee members; little wonder you delivered within the appropriate time. Let me assure you that this report will be delivered to the Governor shortly.
“We commend the committee for resisting any temptation to compromise your reputation. Government will carefully study and act on the recommendations,” the SSG said.
In a swift response to clarify the circumstances surrounding the bail of Sulaiman Aminu Dan Wawu by Commissioner Namadi, the Kano State Government had earlier constituted an eight-member committee to investigate the development.
Although Hon. Namadi, the Transportation Commissioner, initially stood as surety for the individual in question, public reaction prompted the government to take action.
