Kids FM Festival ignites bond, happiness among children in Lagos

Nigeria’s first children’s radio station, Kids FM 101.7, recently hosted over 3,000 children and families at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The Kids FM Festival—a joyful blend of music, education, and family bonding  event.

The station’s General Manager, Tyeng Gang popularly known as ‘Uncle Gang’, said the mission is “to inspire kids and empower parents by unlocking their full potential through accessible education and entertainment on radio.

‘’Kids FM is more than a station. It’s a community. The festival brought this vision to life, creating unforgettable memories and magical moments for children and their families.

Uncle Gang, said the second edition festival was “bigger and better,” introducing popular presenters like Feta, Small Chops, Captain Lionel, and shows such as Morning Bells and Dreamland Drift.
Geng  said  that Kids FM’s programming—Storytime Adventures, Little Geniuses, Music Mania, and Hero Hour—keeps young listeners entertained while nurturing creativity and confidence.

He disclosed that with recent expansions to Port Harcourt and Abuja, Kids FM continues to grow its mission of inspiring kids and empowering parents across Nigeria.
As Uncle Gang noted, “ a radio station—it’s a platform where the joy of learning meets the magic of entertainment.”

Star guest Korede Bello thrilled kids with live music and cash gifts to young dancers. He said “Children are pure joy—full of happiness, energy, and vibrancy,” he said.
Wazobia FM’s Expensive, Ada dum dum and  female presenter Alhaji Sosorobia also came to support.

The highpoint had Small Chops and his co-host also wowed the audience with freestyle music, keeping spirits high and energy flowing.

Captain Lionel thrilled the crowd with live performances.As a  host of The Family Deck, known for connecting with parents and teens alike, entertained the crowd and reminded families of the joy of togetherness.

Happy parents, Mrs. Esther Oboli, a human rights advocate and radio fan, donated a celebration cake. Mama Favour from Epe said, “I danced my heart out and bonded with my kids.” Inspired by the dance contests, Mrs. Oke Ruth promised to enroll her children in dance school next year.

Families relaxed on picnic mats, enjoyed noodles from Indomie trucks, treats from Champion Custard and Kellogg’s, and played games ranging from hockey to PlayStation. Activities like bouncing castles, basketball nets, and learning corners kept children actively engaged.
