Kicks off 5-day digital training in Badagry, Ikorodu

Demonstrating its ongoing dedication to technological advancement and youth empowerment, Lagos State government through the Ministry of Tertiary Education has announced the rollout of the Eko Digital Training programme for young residents in the Badagry and Ikorodu divisions.

This strategic initiative forms a central pillar of the administration’s agenda led by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, focusing on educational excellence, digital literacy, and the development of vital entrepreneurial skills for the state’s youth demographic.

The intensive training programme that started on  September 7 to 11, 2026, across two designated centers at ​Badagry Division, Iba ICT Center, Iba Town, Iba LCDA and Homat School of Basic Studies CBT Center, Igbogbo, Ikorodu Division.

The training ​ ​is designed to prepare participants for a dynamic global landscape, the curriculum blends digital literacy with essential business acumen. Key modules include: ​

Cutting-edge introductions to artificial intelligence, ​fundamental digital skills and information technology training, professional development focused on emotional intelligence for career and personal success.

Addressing the training facilitators, group coordinators , management of the ministry and some of the participants  in his Ikeja office during the week, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Tolani Sule, emphasised the state’s resolve to provide high-quality, practical education. He noted that the specialized courses are structured to equip participants with the competitive edge required to excel in modern career paths.

In the same vein, ​the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Adeniran Kasali, added that strategic investments in digital education serve as a bedrock for building a globally competitive economy and reducing youth unemployment across the state. 

He urged participants in the two centers to grab the opportunity of the training to improve their digital and entrepreneur skills and justify government investments in them.

He further appealed  to the young eligible residents within the Badagry and Ikorodu to take advantage of this free learning opportunity to build self-sustenance and professional capability.
