The Lagos State Government has announced the diversion of traffic on the outbound lane of Marine Bridge from Apapa, starting today, November 18, 2024, until February 25, 2025, to allow for the repair of the asphalt section of the road.
In a statement, the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, advised motorists to use alternative routes.
For those travelling to Lagos Island from Apapa, the recommended route is through the Costain Roundabout onto Eko Bridge. Alternatively, they can use Ijora 7up through Marine Bridge to access the ramp connecting Ijora Causeway Access Road via IjoraOloye, proceeding to Eko Bridge to reach Lagos Island.
For motorists heading to Ijora Causeway or Iddo from Apapa, the suggested route is through Costain Roundabout onto Eko Bridge, followed by the Eko Bridge access ramp to Ijora Causeway, where they can make a U-turn to reach Iddo.
Alternatively, they can travel through Ijora 7up via Marine Bridge to connect to Ijora Causeway Access Road through IjoraOloye.
The diversion, however, will only affect IjoraOlopa inwards, while traffic towards Costain via Sifax will remain unaffected.
Osiyemi assured that the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) personnel would be stationed at the diversion points to manage traffic flow and reduce inconveniences.
He added that the repair works would be closely monitored to ensure they are completed on schedule.
