The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) said it closed down Lobster Beach Club after receiving complaints from concerned neighbours regarding its activities and the impact on the sanctity of the environment.
In a statement on Tuesday, the General Manager, LASEPA, Tunde Ajayi, said the complaints received against the establishment included noise pollution, marijuana smoking, indiscriminate use of fireworks and illegal felling of trees.
He said that in line with its mandate to protect public health and ensure environmental sustainability, LASEPA responded promptly and professionally.
“The action was taken without victimisation and reflects the agency’s unwavering commitment to upholding environmental standards, while reinforcing that no individual or establishment is above the law,” Ajayi said.
The LASEPA boss said that as part of the conditions for the reopening of the facility, Lobster Beach Club has been directed to submit all relevant permits and approvals required for lawful operation.
“Also, they are required to provide evidence of designated smoking areas within their premises in compliance with environmental and public health regulations.
“LASEPA remains committed to upholding compliance through fair and firm enforcement while promoting responsible environmental practices and ensuring that Lagos remains a safe and healthy place for all,” Ajayi said.
