Lagos seals off 10-room building lacking toilet facilities in Agege
The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) sealed off a building with over 10 rooms lacking proper toilet facilities in the Agege area of the state over the weekend.
The action followed a public complaint from residents who reported that the bungalow lacked toilets, relying instead on dilapidated pit latrines filled with exposed faecal matter, posing a significant environmental hazard.
The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, emphasised the government’s commitment to maintaining a sustainable environment through strict enforcement measures.
He stated: “The LSWMO, in its continued commitment to a sustainable environment, proper sanitation, and public health safety, has sealed off a residential property on Adedosu Street, Otubu, Agege.”
Wahab commended the General Manager of LSWMO, Adefemi Afolabi, who led the enforcement team to the property, highlighting the government’s determination to prevent any recurrence of cholera outbreaks in the state.
He added: “Residents are strongly advised to adopt proper sanitation and hygiene practices to promote public health and environmental sustainability.”
