LASBCA plans stakeholders’ engagement over construction failures

Gbolahan Oki

Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) has concluded plans to engage stakeholders in the built environment to deliberate on best practices in the state.
General Manager of LASBCA, Gbolahan Owodunni Oki, who disclosed this in his office, stated that the event, being the second of its kind organised by the agency, has the theme: ‘Professionalism Across Board In The Built Environment’.

Oki noted that the stakeholder engagement is expected to bring together professionals, professional bodies, regulatory bodies, property developers, local council chairmen, community leaders, market men and women, artisans, technocrats and students from tertiary institutions.

According to him, this year’s event will be held on Thursday, August 15, at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja. He called on all stakeholders invited to the programme to make plans to use the event as a unique platform for discussions, networking, and shaping the future of the built environment.

Oki noted that invited stakeholders such as artisans, developers, council chairpersons, community leaders, and professionals are closer to the people.
“It is important to continually educate and enlighten them on the best ways and manners to utilise the environment, obey building codes, regulations and shun the practice of circumventing approval processes in the building construction industry,” he added.
