The Lagos Waste Management Authority has urged residents, traders and transport operators along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway corridor to dispose of waste through designated Private Sector Participant operators as it commenced extensive cleaning and evacuation operations across the axis.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of LAWMA, Muyiwa Gbadegesin, gave the charge at the weekend during a monitoring exercise at identified waste blackspots in the
state.
He said the intervention formed part of a broader compliance and environmental sustainability drive
aimed at restoring sanity along the corridor.
Gbadegesin said: “LAWMA has commenced bulk waste evacuation at Alaba Rago along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway, deploying heavyduty carriers, loaders and support teams to clear illegal dump sites. Residents, traders, and transport operators are advised to dispose of waste only through assigned PSP operators and comply strictly with environmental regulations.”
The monitoring and cleanup exercise covered Orile, Doyin, Alaba Rago, Agric, Barracks Iyana-Iba and Agbara areas
