Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 62-year-old man, Tahir Ahmed, for allegedly mass-producing fake naira notes in Bauchi.

Reports gathered that Ahmed was arrested in possession of the alleged counterfeit naira notes amounting to over N200,000.

The suspect was arrested by the police after he reportedly used a ritual to turn plain paper into new N1,000 notes while boarding a commercial vehicle from Tilden-Fulani to Bauchi.

According to the police spokesperson, SP Ahmed Wakil, he said, “On the 6th of August, 2024, a concerned citizen from Jos North LGA, Plateau State boarded a commercial Vectra vehicle from Sabon Garin Narabi Toro LGA, Bauchi State, en route to Bauchi.”

Wakil also revealed that” Upon reaching Tilden Fulani Market in Toro Local Government Area, Bauchi State, a 62-year-old man named Tahir Ahmed stopped the vehicle and joined the journey to Bauchi.

“While in transit, Ahmed allegedly transformed some papers into new one thousand naira notes through what appeared to be ritualistic chanting, giving rise to suspicion that the notes might be counterfeit.”
