A 24-year-old man, identified as Dada Opeyemi Adesonye, was found dead after allegedly hanging himself from a tree in the Afami area of Imasayi, Yewa North Local Government Area, Ogun State.

The tragic discovery was made early Friday morning by a worker in the area. Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident, noting that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) received a report of the suspected suicide at 8:27 a.m. after an employee of Dangote Cement Transport in Ibese notified the Dangote Police Post of the lifeless body along the Dangote-Afami Road around 8:10 a.m.

The victim, identified as Adesonye, originally from Abeokuta, was found hanging from a tree at the scene.

Law enforcement officials arrived promptly after receiving the report and began their investigation.

During the investigation, photographs of the scene were taken, and no signs of violence were found on the body. Items recovered from the deceased’s pockets included a payment card, a key holder, an earbud, and N2,000.

The police have handed over the body to the victim’s family for burial.

Odutola stressed the importance of paying close attention to loved ones, noting the increasing incidents of youth suicides.

She assured that further updates would be provided and urged families to stay vigilant and offer support to those showing signs of distress.
