Monarch urges indigenes to prioritise development through investment

The Olu of Ilaro and paramount ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, has reiterated the need for indigenes of Yewaland to collectively drive the developmental agenda of Ogun West through meaningful investment that could bring social wellbeing to the people.

The monarch was speaking at the ground opening of the Yewa Frontier Radio and the Amusement Park in the Ilaro area of Ogun State. Oba Olugbenle stated that the Amusement Park would enhance the recreational experience of the people, stating that the radio, would provide a sustainable platform for people to tell their stories, while further deepening growth and development of Yewaland. He commended the Founder of the park and station, Afisu Olabintan, for his foresight, noting that his interest is not only to make profit but also to develop and employ his people.

The traditional ruler urged that all hands must be on the deck to move Yewa forward and eschew any form of act that is capable of drawing the Ogun West backwards.

Also speaking, Founder and Nigerian – American based investor, Afisu Olaibitan, identified a lack of adequate planning and vision as one of impediment, affecting the country’s economic growth and infrastructural decay .

Afisu explained that the sole aim of the projects is not for profit-making but his own way of giving back the society and yewa in general, stressing that the establishment of radio is a long-awaited move to move Yewa forward. 

He added that for over 50 years that he has gone for greener pasture, his sole aim had been to give back the society and change the narrative of the people of Yewa.

He also stated that for Nigeria to overcome its decade of infrastructural decay, unemployment, and economic uncertainty, there is a need for public private partnership to help stimulate economic growth and improve infrastructural development

He emphasised that the problem of the country is not only about corruption but inability of the resources to circulate, noting that this impediment had been the bin of ecominc woes for the country.

He explained that part of the reason why yewa were marginalised is the inability of the people to develop the yewa themselves. 
“People have created a meaty around that your fortune can disappear .”

He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his developmental drive and the economic policies of the country noting that the process of taking the country crude oil abroad to refined it has affected the unfortunate and economy activities of the nation negatively .

Engr.Afisu maintains that Nigeria should, as a matter of urgency, move away from over reliance on the mono- economy and find other alternative sources of economy so as to be relevant among the commit of nations

Also speaking at the event, Paramount of yewa and the olu of ilaro, oba kehinde Olugbenle commend initiative, and urged the well-meaning yewa indigenes to invest in their land so as for yewaland develop .

He explained that for yewa to witness unprecedented development, there is a need for all hands to be on the deck .
