This disclosure was made by the Director General of CCLCA, Dr Gabriel Nwambu, during a live appearance on AIT.

“Actually, there was no election in Rivers State. What happened was that the results had already been written, and an announcement of winners,” Nwambu stated in the programme, monitored by The Guardian.

The CCLCA’s criticism of the election process stems from the Supreme Court judgement of July 11, 2024, which the group believes has been blatantly disregarded.

Nwambu described the election as a “mockery of democracy,” citing the lack of adherence to established procedures and principles that guide the conduct of free and fair elections.

The Director General further lamented that the electoral process in Rivers State set a troubling precedent, saying, “Governors are grossly abusing all known methods of conducting elections worldwide.”
