NSCDC apprehend suspected vandals in Jigawa

Two suspected vandals have been apprehended by officers and men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa State.

The suspects were arrested in Fuda village, located in Fagam District of Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

Addressing a press conference at the NSCDC premises, the Commandant, Bala Bawa Bodinga, reiterated the command’s commitment to tackling criminal activities across Jigawa State, just as he promised to intensify surveillance and routine patrols to ensure the safety of the lives and property of Jigawa citizenry.

The two suspects, identified as Dahiru Abdullahi, who claimed to be a blacksmith, and Surajo Yusuf, a self-proclaimed hunter, were arrested for allegedly stealing electrical wires and insulators worth millions of naira in the area.

According to Commandant Bodinga, items recovered from the suspects include 11 broken insulators, 20.7 meters of conductor wire, 2.5 meters of cable, a knife, several spinners, and a Bajaj brand motorcycle.

He added that the suspects were apprehended through a targeted surveillance operation. He further disclosed that other suspects believed to be from Babura Local Government Area are currently at large. He said efforts are geared towards their apprehension, assuring that “once we’re through with our investigations, all the culprits will be charged in court to face the wrath of the law.”

The NSCDC commandant urged the public to provide credible information to assist security agencies in safeguarding communities. He assured that the corps would continue working tirelessly to rid the state of criminal elements.

The recent arrest, according to Bodinga, is part of the corps’ ongoing efforts to combat vandalism, among other criminal acts, which have already led to several successful operations across Jigawa State.
