The Ondo State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has called on youths to collaborate in protecting the nation’s assets and infrastructure.
Commandant Oluyemi Ibiloye issued the charge during a visit from the newly elected executives of the Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN), Ondo State Chapter, to his office.
In his address, Ibiloye congratulated the young leaders on their new roles and emphasised the critical role of youth in ensuring security. He noted that the conversation naturally steered towards a vital topic: the involvement of young people in safeguarding the nation’s infrastructure.
“The youth are pivotal on both sides of the divide in our society,” Ibiloye said, stressing that their participation is essential in shaping a secure future for the state and the country. He urged the youth to act as vanguards, ensuring they are not manipulated for political agendas but instead contribute meaningfully to protecting national assets.
“Nigeria’s future is in the hands of the youth, and I believe we must continue to support them as they assume leadership roles. Our ongoing mission at the NSCDC is to protect our shared resources, and youth involvement is key to achieving this. We remain committed to a non-violent transition of power and will continue engaging with the youth for the peace and security of Ondo State,” the commandant said.
The newly elected YAN executives include Speaker Isaiah Oyawale, Deputy Speaker Oluwalade David, Clerk Eric Ajayi, Director of Protocol Jesupemi Eunice Bankole, Sergeant-at-Arms Mercy Agboola Owolola, and Ondo South District Coordinator Adeolu Emayero.
