Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, on Wednesday, assured that the departed heroes and those still at the forefront sacrificing their lives for the unity and peace of the country will not be neglected.

Oborevwori gave this assurance while speaking with journalists shortly after laying the wreath at the commemoration of the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day held in Asaba, the state capital.

While tasking Nigerians to pray for the souls of departed heroes to have eternal rest, he assured their families of government support at all times.

For the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, the invaluable contributions of the Armed Forces in maintaining peace, stability, and security in Nigeria will remain indelible in the minds of all Nigerians.

Guwor said the commemoration of the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day was to pay tribute to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifices in defense of the nation.

He said their selflessness, courage, and loyalty to Nigeria are an inspiration to all, even as he acknowledged the sacrifices made by their families and loved ones.

The Speaker, who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Nkem Nwaeke, said, “As a nation, we must continue to support our Armed Forces and veterans and ensure that their welfare is prioritised.”

Guwor, who is the National Treasurer of the Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Assembly in Nigeria, stressed that every stakeholder owes it a duty to help create an environment that promotes peace, unity, and prosperity in the country.

He stated that the Delta State House of Assembly is committed to supporting the State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, in maintaining strong synergy with the Armed Forces, as demonstrated in his pledge of continuous assistance to their operations in the state.

The Speaker noted that as the nation continues to remember and celebrate the bravery of the fallen heroes, the best way to honour their memory is by working towards a brighter future for the country.

He said, “As we commemorate the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, we should pay tribute to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation. Their selflessness, courage, and loyalty to Nigeria are an inspiration to us all.”
