The Ogun Area II Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has generated over N15 billion in excise duties between January and April 2025, signaling a 40 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2024.
The Area Controller, Comptroller Bisi Alade, who disclosed this while briefing journalists at the command’s headquarters in Abeokuta, attributed the feat to the diligence, professionalism, and commitment of officers and men of the command.
Giving a breakdown, Alade said the command generated a total of N15,191,227,503.82, with over N8.333 billion coming from the Free Trade Zone (FTZ) and N7.164 billion from the Bonded Terminal (Import).
He explained that the revenue performance reflects the command’s determination to support the economic growth and development of the nation.
Alade also revealed that the command uncovered a manufacturing company operating illegally within its jurisdiction during the period under review. The company, he said, has since been brought under excise duty control to further enhance government revenue.
Reaffirming the command’s resolve to surpass its current revenue performance, Alade said the command would continue to engage stakeholders, the local business community, and relevant partners to ensure strict compliance with government fiscal policies.
He assured that the command would continue to discharge its statutory responsibilities in line with the policy thrust of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, anchored on consolidation, collaboration, and innovation.
Alade commended the officers and men of the Ogun Area II Command for their dedication and professionalism, urging them to remain focused on achieving excellence at their duty posts.
